Two Assume Additional Responsibilities for PS&E
PETE SKORICH AND MIKE GARRETT ASSUME ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR PALACE SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT
Pete Skorich and Mike Garrett have assumed additional responsibilities for Palace Sports & Entertainment (PS&E) and the Detroit Pistons, it was announced by Alan Ostfield, President and CEO of PS&E. “Both Pete and Mike have been integral and respected members of our organization for years,” said Ostfield. “Their skills and talents are a natural match for the departments joining them and the addition of these departments to their groups will provide a synergy which will benefit the groups and the organization.” Skorich was promoted to Executive Vice President of Broadcasting/Brand Marketing, expanding his duties to oversee the organization’s Brand Marketing, Creative Group, Camps/Clinics/Year-‘Round-Hoops and Pistons.com website editorial areas. He will retain his previous responsibilities as EVP of Broadcasting/Multimedia including managing The Palace Television Centers, in-game presentation, and overseeing the production of Pistons television shows as well as all future television and broadcasting endeavors. His department has won a total of 29 Michigan Emmys. Skorich’s association with The Detroit Pistons began in 1976 as a ball boy when the team called Cobo Arena home. He moved with the Pistons to the Pontiac Silverdome and was hired in 1981 as the team’s Executive Producer. In 1989, a year after the team moved to The Palace, Skorich was promoted to Director of the Multimedia Communications Department. He was named Executive Vice President of Broadcasting & Multimedia in 2007. Skorich graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Detroit in 1985. His many achievements include three Golden Matrix Awards for Best Sports Video and his appointment to video coordinator for the United States Men’s Basketball (Dream) Team for the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. A Dearborn, Michigan native, Skorich currently resides in Oakland Township with his wife Suzanne. Garrett, Director of Information Technology and Business Systems, will add the Website services group to his existing areas of responsibility, bringing together their capabilities in website and social media with the internet marketing and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) functions already under his supervision. In Garrett’s current role, he oversees the operational and strategic direction for all PS&E technology and business systems including the Information Technology and Telecommunications Department. In addition, he provides guidance to the organization’s CRM and MyCompanyOffer Departments, and Palacenet.com applications. Garrett joined PS&E in 1999 as a Senior Systems Analyst and he was promoted to Manager of Technical services in 2001, responsible for the analysis and strategic planning of technical direction of the organization. In 2003, he was promoted to Director of Business Systems. Garrett received his Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from Michigan State University before becoming a research associate at Wayne State University School of Medicine. While at Wayne State, he earned his M.B.A. degree, graduating with honors in 2000. A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Garrett currently resides in Troy, with wife Christine, daughter Skylar and son Zachary. PS&E ownership includes The Palace and DTE Energy Music Theatre, as well as the management of Meadow Brook Music Festival on the campus of Oakland University. Combined, PS&E’s Michigan venues average 300 events and 3.5 million guests annually.
